3.2 – The Position of Schiphol as a Freight Hub – Adding Value in Economic and Logistic Networks
December 20, 2007 Leave a comment
Koster and Bleumink discuss developments of the international freight market and consequences for the hub function of Schiphol. First of all they mention that the freight market is of elementary importance for Schiphol and part of the metropolitan value chains. Secondly, this market is growing, changing and can be characterised by rising international competition. To stay competitive and to become leading in freight concepts again, Schiphol should make a paradigm shift. Key is the focus on added value by upgrading and optimising products/ services and processes for the land users close to the airport.
